THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN

Chapter 16

Abba Father, please send Thy Holy Spirit mightily upon me now to impart unto me full wisdom of the glorious things spoken in this chapter of the Gospel of John. May these Holy Scriptures be fully manifest in my life here on earth, for Thy Great Glory.

“These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.” (Verse 1)

My Lord Jesus Christ, please speak unto me all the things that Thou hast ordained that I hear from Thee. Please save me from ever being offended because of Thee or because of Thy Words to me.

“They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.” (Verse 2)

Lord Jesus, help me to not think it strange when people cast me out of their presence because I am Thine and because I love Thee. Please give me perfect understanding to comprehend that there are evil people who so deceived by Satan that they think they do God service when they kill Christian believers who trust in the One True God. I now intercede in prayer for all such deceived, pitiful souls. Please enlighten them and save them for Thy Precious Name’s Sake.

“And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.” (Verse 3)

Almighty Lord Jehovah God Jesus Christ, I earnestly long to fully know Thee to the deepest extent possible during this life of mine here on earth. So I beg Thee to reveal Thyself unto me to this great extent. Save me from being void of knowledge of Thee. I do not want Thee to be a stranger unto me. Please save me from treating Thee wrongfully. Please save me from treating Christian believers wrongfully. Please save me from treating anyone wrongfully.

“But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.” (Verse 4)

Lord Jesus, please tell me all things Thou wouldest have me to know. I am listening for Thy Sweet Voice, my Precious Lord. Please enable me to remember all these things Thou doest tell me. Please always be with me, until the end of my life here on earth.

“But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?” (Verse 5)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou didst go Thy Way unto God the Father Who sent Thee to this earth to be the Saviour of all mankind.

“But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.” (Verse 6)

Lord Jesus, please save me from ever sorrowing over the things that Thou doest say unto me.

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” (Verse 7)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou art Truth and that Thou doest always speak Truth. I worship Thee as Truth. I confess that it is expedient for me as a Christian believer, that Thou hast gone away into Heaven. Thank Thee, Lord Jesus, for sending the Comforter unto me. I worship Thee as the God of all comfort.

“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:” (Verse 8)

Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou hast sent the Holy Spirit unto us. I confess that God the Holy Spirit reproves the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

“Of sin, because they believe not on me;” (Verse 9)

Heavenly Father, I confess that God the Holy Spirit reproves the world of sin because the people of the world do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father, I confess that I am not of the world. I confess that I belong to the Lord Jesus Christ because of my faith and trust in Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world.

“Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;” (Verse 10)

Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou doest reprove the world of righteousness. I trust in Thee to be my Righteousness, Lord Jesus. I confess that Thou hast gone into Heaven unto God the Father. Lord Jesus, I have never seen Thee with my physical eyes. Please give me solid, unshakable faith to believe on Thee, Whom I have never seen.

“Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.” (Verse 11)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou doest reprove the world of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I confess that the prince of this world is Lucifer, the devil, Satan. I confess that I do not belong to the prince of this world. Lord Jesus, I confess that I belong unto Thee. I am Thine, O Lord Jesus. By Thy Almighty Power, please set me completely free from the power of the prince of this world.

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.” (Verse 12)

My dear Lord Jesus, I praise Thy Name because Thou hast many things to say unto me. Please enable me to bear all the many things that Thou hast to say unto me. Please cause my ears to always be attentive unto Thy Voice. And in Thy Divinely Ordained Time, please speak unto me and teach me all things Thou hast ordained that I should learn from Thee during my life here on earth.

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.” (Verse 13)

Heavenly Father, I confess that Thy Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. I confess that Thou hast sent Thy Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth. I now pray for Almighty God’s Holy Spirit to guide me into all truth. I confess that Thy Holy Spirit shall not speak of himself, but rather shall speak of whatsoever he shall hear. I confess that Thy Spirit of truth will show me things to come. I now pray for Thy Holy Spirit to show me things to come.

“He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” (Verse 14)

Lord Jesus, I confess that God the Holy Spirit doeth glorify Thee. Please enable me also to glorify Thee. I confess that The Holy Spirit shall receive of Thine, Lord Jesus, and shall show it unto me. I now pray for The Holy Spirit to show these things of Christ unto me.

“All things that the Father hath are mine: there said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” (Verse 15)

Heavenly Father, I confess the truth of my Lord’s words here. All things that God the Father hath are the Lord Jesus Christ’s. I confess that God the Father shall take of the things of Christ and shall show them unto me. I now pray unto Thee, Heavenly Father, to please do that for me.

“A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.” (Verse 16)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou hast gone into Heaven unto God the Father. Therefore I cannot now see Thee. Please give me perfect faith to believe on Thee, Lord Jesus, whom I cannot now see with my natural eyes. I confess that after a little while Thou wilt come again to this earth, Lord Jesus, to receive us Christian believers unto Thee. I pray that Thou wouldest come today, to take us to Heaven to forever be there with Thee.

“Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?” (Verse 17)

Lord Jesus, please give me perfect understanding of all Thy Words that Thou doest speak unto me so that I will never be unsure of the meaning of what Thou doest say.

“They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.” (Verse 18)

Lord Jesus Christ, please impart unto me Thy Perfect Wisdom in order for me to fully and perfectly comprehend and understand all the words that Thou doest speak unto me. Save me from being void of understanding the meaning of Thy Words unto me.

“Now Je’sus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?” (Verse 19)

Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou art an all-knowing, omniscient, living God. I confess that Thou doest know all the thoughts of my heart and mind. I pray for God’s Holy Spirit to work powerfully and freely in my heart to set all my thoughts aright.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.” (Verse 20)

Lord Jesus, fortify me with the knowledge that there will be times when I will weep, lament, and be sorrowful. I praise Thy Great Name that Thou hast given me God’s Holy Spirit to comfort me when I am cast down. Thank Thee for God’s Joy that Thou hast put into my heart. Thank Thee for Thy Promise that the time is coming when my sorrow will be turned into joy.

“A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.” (Verse 21)

Lord Jesus Christ, I praise Thy Name that joy follows sorrow for we who are trusting in Thee.

“And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.” (Verse 22)

Heavenly Father, when I am in sorrow, please comfort me by Thy Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus, I praise Thy Name that Thou doest cause my heart to rejoice, and that no man taketh my joy from me.

“And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.” (Verse 23)

Heavenly Father, please teach and guide me to pray in accordance to Thy Divine Will. Also please teach me to ask of Thee in the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father, I ask of Thee a full measure of Thy Divine Wisdom to guide me throughout my life here on earth. I ask Thee to lead all the lost souls on this earth to the Lord Jesus Christ and to save them all for Thy Mercies’ sake. I ask these things in the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ.

Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” (Verse 24)

Lord Jesus, please train me to ask of God the Father in Thy Name. In accordance to Thy Will, guide me to boldly ask of God. Please give me strong faith to believe that I will then receive, just as Thou hast promised me that I will receive. I praise Thy Name, Lord Jesus, that Thou doest make my joy full.

“These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.” (Verse 25)

Lord Jesus Christ, please give me full understanding of all proverbs, dark sayings, and such in the Holy Bible. Please give me full understanding of all Thy clear teachings in the Bible. Also, please give me full understanding of all that Thy Holy Spirit doeth speak unto me as He daily teaches me the meaning of Thy Holy Scriptures and as He daily guides me in obedience to Thee and Thy Scriptures.

“At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:” (Verse 26)

Almighty Heavenly Father, by Thy Holy Spirit, teach me perfectly when to pray unto God, what to ask of Thee, and how to ask in the High and Holy Name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

“For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.” (Verse 27)

Heavenly Father, I confess that I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ came out from God. Lord Jesus, I love Thee. Please enable me to love Thee with all my heart. Heavenly Father, I love Thee and thank Thee for loving me with a Perfect Love.

“I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.” (Verse 28)

Heavenly Father, I confess that the Lord Jesus Christ came forth from God the Father in Heaven, and that He came into this world as man. I confess that Jesus Christ died on the cross for all the sins of all mankind, was buried, rose from the dead, and ascended up into Heaven unto the Father. I trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour and worship Him as the True and Living God.

“His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.” (Verse 29)

Lord Jesus, please give me complete understanding of all Thy words that Thou doest speak unto me, in proverbs and when Thou doest speak plainly.

“Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.” (Verse 30)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou doest know all things, and that Thou camest forth from God the Father in Heaven.

“Je’sus answered them, Do ye now believe?” (Verse 31)

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that Thou art God the Son. I believe that Thou art the Saviour of the world. I personally believe on Thee as my Saviour, trusting in Thy Almighty Power to save me from eternal destruction and to give me eternal life.

“Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.” (Verse 32)

Lord Jesus, please fortify me with godly courage so that I will never leave Thee alone, never desert Thee, never run away from Thee, and never deny Thee. Please enable me to always confess Thee as my All in all before all mankind, no matter what anyone may do to me. Heavenly Father, I know that Thou art always with me. Thank Thee, Heavenly Father. Lord Jesus, I know that Thou art always with me. I thank Thee, Lord Jesus, that Thou wilt never leave me nor forsake me.

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (Verse 33)

Lord Jesus Christ, I humbly thank Thee for all the gracious words that Thou doest speak unto me. Please enable me to always fully believe all Thy words. I confess that Thou art the Prince of Peace. Please fill my being with Thy Peace that passeth understanding. I confess that no one else can give me peace like Thy True Peace. I confess that no one can take Thy Peace away from me. Lord Jesus, I worship Thee as my Peace.

Please enable me to fully believe Thy words to me, Lord Jesus, that I will have tribulation in this world. By Thy Almighty Power, please strengthen me to withstand all tribulation. Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou hast overcome the world. I worship Thee as my Unfailing Victory. And thus I confess that I can always be of good cheer because the King of kings and Lord of lords is my Peace and my Victory. Glory be to Almighty God for all these great and glorious things Thou hast done for me!

Heavenly Father, in the Name of God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray all these things unto Thee. I ask Thee to please answer my prayers for The Lord Jesus Christ’s Precious Name’s sake. Amen.
