THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN
Chapter 5
Abba Father, I cry unto
Thee in desperate need of full knowledge and wisdom of all the words in this
chapter 5 of John. Please send The Holy Ghost mightily upon me to impart to me
the fullness of all the deep Spiritual meanings of all these Scriptures. Please
empower me to perfectly apply all these Scriptures to my own life and to
proclaim these Scriptures in their entirety to all the human souls I possibly
can.
“After this there was a feast of the Jews; and
Je’sus went up to Je-ru’sa-lem.” (Verse 1)
Lord Jesus, I desire to
go with Thee whithersoever Thou doest go. Please lead me in Paths of
Righteousness for Thy Holy Name’s Sake. Cause me to always walk ever so close
to Thy Precious Side in sweet, Holy Fellowship with Thee.
“Now there is at Je-ru’sa-lem by the sheep market a
pool, which is called in the He’brew tongue Be-thes’da, having five porches.”
(Verse 2)
“In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk,
of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.” (Verse 3)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
worship Thee as the True God Who hath compassion on impotent folk, blind, halt,
and withered folk. Please have compassion on me. Also create within me a heart
that is full of compassion for all the suffering souls around me. By Almighty
God’s Power, please enable me to be a great help to all suffering mankind.
“For an angel went down at a certain season into
the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of
the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.” (Verse 4)
Almighty Lord Jehovah God
on Thy Holy Hill in Heaven, enemies of Thy Holy Scriptures teach that the
events recorded in this verse are a fable. I confess that I believe the Truth
of this verse, that these miraculous events happened just as The Holy Bible
bears record of them. I confess that they were miracles of healing wrought by
Almighty God Who can do anything. I confess that I am a Bible believer.
“And a certain man was there, which had an
infirmity thirty and eight years.” (Verse 5)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
have compassion on all us souls presently on this earth. Please have compassion
on our infirmities. Please have compassion on all our sufferings. Cause all
souls to seek Thy Help and Thy Healing.
“When Je’sus saw him lie, and knew that he had been
now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt
thou be made whole?” (Verse 6)
Lord Jesus Christ, by
God’s Omnipresent Holy Spirit, please speak these same words to me clearly
right now. Please ask me if I want to be made whole. Lord Jesus, my answer is
YES! Yes, Lord Jesus, I crave to be made whole. I worship Thee as The Perfect
God. So I cry out to Thee to have mercy on me and to make me perfect also.
Please forgive all my sins, and perfectly cleanse me from all sin by Thy
Precious Shed Blood. Please minister Perfect Healing to my body, soul, and
spirit, making me totally whole and perfect. Please make my mind, thoughts,
intents, motives, words, and deeds all perfect. Please heal my physical body of
all its infirmities, making it perfect. Lord Jesus Christ, I worship Thee as
the True and Perfect God Who makes believers whole and perfect. I come unto
Thee for all the Help I need in this life under the sun.
“The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man,
when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming,
another steppeth down before me.” (Verse 7)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that the only thing that can possibly hinder Thee from making me whole
is my own will. No other human soul has the ability to keep me from coming unto
Thee. Lord Jesus, I choose to come unto Thee for all the Help I need in this
life. Please make me totally willing and fervently desirous for Thee to make me
whole, complete, and perfect.
“Je’sus saith unto him, Rise,
take up thy bed, and walk.” (Verse 8)
Lord Jesus, please
command me as to what to do. Command me now. Command me every day of my life. I
am listening for Thy Command. I am waiting to obey and follow Thee.
“And immediately the man was made whole, and took
up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.” (Verse 9)
Lord Jesus, I confess
that this verse is the True Record of Thee working a miracle of healing. Thank
Thee, for making this man whole. Please make me whole also. I pray for all
souls now living on this earth to come unto The Saviour of the world to be made
whole.
“The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured,
It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.” (Verse 10)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that it is lawful, good, and most necessary for each human soul on this
earth to do exactly what Thou doest command us to do. Please help us all to
fully obey Thee.
“He answered them, He that made me whole, the same
said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.” (Verse
11)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
help me to always obey all Thy Commands to me, no matter who speaks against my
obedience to Thee. Give me Spiritual courage from Heaven to always boldly
proclaim to everyone that I will fully obey Thee, no matter who speaks against
me doing so. Lord Jesus, I am on Thy Side. Stand by me, please.
“Then asked they him, What man is that which said
unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?” (Verse 12)
Lord Jesus, please impart
perfect knowledge unto me to enable me to always be able to give a truthful and
correct answer to all people who ask of me concerning the Eternal Hope that is
within me.
“And he that was healed wist not who it was: for
Je’sus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.” (Verse 13)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
teach me exactly Who Thou art. Please teach me that Thou art God the Son, my
Creator, The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and The Saviour and Judge of all
mankind.
“Afterward Je’sus findeth him in the temple, and
said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no
more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.” (Verse 14)
Lord Jesus, please seek
for me and find me. Please make me whole. Please guard me against sinning, that
I sin no more against Thee. Teach me the Fear of the Lord by teaching me the
deadly consequences of sin.
“The man departed, and told the Jews that it was
Je’sus, which had made him whole.” (Verse 15)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
help me to go tell everyone that Thou hast made me whole. Please help me to
lift Thee up as high as I possibly can in my life, so as to draw all men unto Thee.
“And therefore did the Jews persecute Je’sus, and
sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.”
(Verse 16)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that Thou hast done all things well. I confess that all Thy Deeds are
Perfect. I confess that I find no fault in the Lord Jesus Christ. Train me to
endure hard times as a true soldier of Thine. Teach me how that children of the
devil will persecute me and seek to kill me for standing true to Thee. Fortify
me to not count my own life dear and to never, ever fail Thee in any way.
“But Je’sus answered them, My
Father worketh hitherto, and I work.” (Verse 17)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that God the Father works. I confess that Thou art God the Son, and
that Thou doest work marvelous and glorious works. Please give me a burning
desire to work for Thee. Please guide me to work all the works Thou hast
ordained for my life on earth. O Lord Jesus, make me into a fervent worker in
Thy Vineyard of harvest of eternal human souls on this earth.
“Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him,
because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his
Father, making himself equal with God.” (Verse 18)
Lord Jesus Christ, I confess
that God the Father is Thy Heavenly Father. I confess that Thou God the Son. I
confess that Thou art equal with God the Father. I worship Thee, Lord Jesus, as
Almighty God.
“Then answered Je’sus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of
himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth,
these also doeth the Son likewise.” (Verse 19)
Our Father which art in
Heaven, please reveal Thy Works unto me. Please teach me to work the works Thou
hast ordained for me. Convince me that I can do nothing of myself without Thee.
Cause me to always rely fully upon Almighty God to work mightily and powerfully
within me and thru me.
“For the Father loveth the
Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him
greater works than these, that ye may marvel.” (Verse 20)
Heavenly Father, I
confess that Thou doest love Thy Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and doest
show Jesus all things Thou doest. Please show me Thy Greater Works, that I may marvel
and have strong faith toward my Creator God. Please reveal unto to Thy
Unlimited Glory, Power, and Marvelous Love, Mercy, and Grace.
“For as the Father raiseth
up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.” (Verse
21)
Heavenly Father, I
confess that Thou doest raise up dead people, and makest them alive. I confess
that The Lord Jesus Christ maketh alive whom He will. Lord Jesus Christ, please
quicken my dead spirit. Please make me alive forever more.
“For the Father judgeth no
man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:” (Verse 22)
Heavenly Father, I
confess that Thou doest judge no man, but that Thou hast committed all judgment
unto Thy Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, I worship Thee as the Judge of
all mankind. Please have mercy on me and graciously grant me faith to trust in
Thee as my Saviour. Please enable me to live my life on in total obedience to
Thee, in order to hear Thee say, “Well done,” unto me on Judgment Day.
“That all men should honour
the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son
honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” (Verse 23)
Heavenly Father, I pray
that all men, women, and children would honour Thy Son, Jesus Christ. I pray
that all people would honour God The Father. Please teach me to honour The One,
True, Living God my Creator, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy
Ghost.
“Verily, verily, I say unto
you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath
everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from
death unto life.” (Verse 24)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
give me ears to hear all Thy Words. Please give me true faith to believe on God
the Father Who hath sent Thee into This world. Please give me faith to believe
on Thee, Lord Jesus. I do not want to be condemned by Thee, and sentenced to
eternal death. Please have great mercy on me a sinner, and save me from
condemnation and eternal death. O how I desire to have everlasting life. Please
become my Everlasting Life. I worship Thee, Lord Jesus Christ, as Eternal
Life.
“Verily, verily, I say unto
you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the
Son of God: and they that hear shall live.” (Verse 25)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
convince me that all people who are not trusting in Thee are spiritually dead
in trespasses and sin. Lord Jesus, please let me hear Thy Voice speaking words
of eternal life to me. I desire to live forever. Please cause me to hear all
Thy Words and to believe all Thy Words. Please be my Eternal Life. Please cause
all souls now living on this earth to hear and believe all Thy Words.
“For as the Father hath
life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;” (Verse
26)
Heavenly Father, I confess
that Thou art The One True Eternal God Who lives forever, never to die. I
confess that The Lord Jesus Christ is God the Son Who Himself is Eternal Life.
I reverently worship Thee, Lord Jesus Christ, as My Creator God and as Eternal
Life. I worship Almighty God as Eternal Life.
“And hath given him
authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.” (Verse
27)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that Thou art the Son of man. I confess that Thou doest have Absolute
Authority as Almighty God to freely execute judgment upon me, Thy created
being. I worship Thee, Lord Jesus, as the Absolute Almighty Judge of all
creation. Train me to fully prepare myself to soon meet Thee in Judgment.
“Marvel not at this: for
the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his
voice,” (Verse 28)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that resurrection day is coming when Thou wilt call forth all dead
human bodies from the graves to stand in Thy Holy and Righteous Judgment.
Please help me to now to prepare to meet my Creator God in Judgment. I confess
that Thou doest have all power over death and Hell. Please save me from death
and Hell.
“And shall come forth; they
that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done
evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” (Verse 29)
Almighty Lord God in
Heaven, please teach and lead me to do good by first fully trusting in the Lord
Jesus Christ as my Saviour, and then studying and obeying all Thy Words in The
Holy Bible. Please enable me to do good. I desire to come forth unto the
resurrection of life. Save me from doing evil. Save me from sinning. Save me
from coming forth unto the resurrection of damnation to be eternally damned in
Hell fire.
“I can of mine own self do
nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine
own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” (Verse 30)
Heavenly Father, please
help me to right now fully surrender my own will unto Thee, my Creator God.
Please save me from the sin of seeking my own will. Please cause me to cease
seeking mine own will. Please enable me to fully seek the will of God the
Father in Heaven, for everything pertaining to my short life on this earth. Not
my will, but Thine be done, Heavenly Father Jehovah God.
“If I bear witness of
myself, my witness is not true.” (Verse 31)
Lord Jesus, please teach
me exactly how to apply this living verse to my life on earth. Please save me
from bearing witness of myself. Please make my witness to always be true.
“There is another that
beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is
true.” (Verse 32)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that Moses and the prophets bare witness of Thee, and that their witness
is true. I confess that God the Holy Spirit beareth witness that Thou art God
the Son. I confess that the witness of the Holy Spirit is true. I worship Thee,
Lord Jesus, as Truth.
“Ye sent unto John, and he
bare witness unto the truth.” (Verse 33)
Almighty Lord Jehovah
God, please teach me all of God’s Truth Thou wouldest have me to know. Then
help me to proclaim that Truth to everyone that I can. Please help me to always
bear witness to Almighty God’s Truth.
“But I receive not
testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.” (Verse
34)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
give me ears to hear all the things Thou hast to say to me, that I might be
saved. I do not want to perish. I want to be saved eternally by Almighty God in
Heaven.
“He was a burning and a
shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.” (Verse
35)
Lord Jesus, please make
me into a burning and shining light for Thee. Please help me to always and
forever rejoice in Thy Light, and to show forth Thy True Light to everyone I
can.
“But I have greater witness
than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the
same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.” (Verse
36)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that God The Father didst send Thee into this world. I confess that the
works Thou didst do while on earth bear witness of Thee. I confess that these
works of Thine are a greater witness than that of John. Please help me to
carefully study all Thy Works recorded in The Holy Bible, fully believe all Thy
Works, and boldly proclaim all Thy Works to everyone I can.
“And the Father himself,
which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice
at any time, nor seen his shape.” (Verse 37)
Our Father which art in
Heaven, I confess that Thou didst send Thy Son, Jesus Christ, into this world
to save me. I confess that Thou hast borne witness of The Lord Jesus Christ.
Please let me hear Thy Precious Voice. Please speak unto me all Thy Words I should
know. Please reveal Thyself to me thru Thy Holy Spirit.
“And ye have not his word
abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.” (Verse 38)
Heavenly Father, I
confess that I believe that Thou didst send Thy Only Begotten Son, The Lord Jesus
Christ, into this world. Please help me to fully believe on The Lord Jesus.
Heavenly Father, I desire to have Thy Precious Word abiding in me forever.
Please grant that prayer of mine.
“Search the scriptures; for
in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” (Verse
39)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
help me to be fully obedient to this most important command of Thine to search
the Scriptures. Please cause me to diligently study and search Thy Holy
Scriptures daily and for many hours. Please send Thy Holy Spirit to teach me
the meaning of Thy Scriptures as I search them. I confess that Thy Scriptures
in Thy Holy Bible do testify of Thee, Lord Jesus. I confess that Thou art
Eternal Life. Please be my Eternal Life.
“And ye will not come to
me, that ye might have life.” (Verse 40)
Lord Jesus, please draw
me to Thee, that I might have life. Save me from shunning Thee, and thus
perishing. Please lead many lost souls to come to Thee that they might have
life. Please shine Thy Light into each human soul on this earth and thus give
them a clear understanding of the Spiritual Truth that all human souls who do
not come to Thee do not have life.
“I receive not honour from
men.” (Verse 41)
Lord Jesus Christ, please
help me to always reverence and honour Thee in all that I do, say, and think. “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour, and
power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were
created.” I pray that all people on this earth
would honour and reverence Thee, Precious Lord Jesus. I confess that I am not
worthy to receive honour from men. Please save me from the sinful vanity of
seeking honour from men.
“But I know you, that ye
have not the love of God in you.” (Verse 42)
Lord Jesus, I confess
that Thou doest know everything about me. I worship Thee as The True,
Omniscient God. Do I have God’s Love in me? Please fill me with God’s Love and
teach and lead me to love Thee 1st and foremost with all my
heart.
“I am come in my Father’s
name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will
receive.” (Verse 43)
Lord Jesus Christ, I
confess that Thou didst come in God The Father’s Name. Please help me to wholly
receive Thee. Please give me wisdom and discernment to reject every false god,
every false prophet, and every false religious teacher.
“How can ye believe, which
receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God
only?” (Verse 44)
Almighty Lord Jehovah God
in Heaven, please create within me a profound craving to seek the honour that
cometh from God only. Save me from the sin of seeking honour from other people.
Help me to shun honour from people. Please enable me to fully believe on The
Lord Jesus Christ, and to always seek the honour that cometh from God
only.
“Do not think that I will
accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Mo’ses, in whom
ye trust.” (Verse 45)
Lord Jesus, please help
me to search the Scriptures and to study Almighty God’s Law given by Moses in
the Old Testament. Please teach me how that God’s Perfect Law accuses me, a
rebellious law breaking sinner. Help me to acknowledge that all the accusations
that God’s Law brings against me are just and right, and that I am wrong and
sinful. Please help me to truly cry out to Thee, Lord God, to have mercy on me
a sinner and to forgive me for The Lord Jesus Christ’s Gracious Name’s Sake.
“For had ye believed
Mo’ses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.” (Verse 46)
Heavenly Father, please create
within me a heart strong in faith that believes all that Moses wrote in the Old
Testament. Teach me all that Moses wrote in the Old Testament concerning The
Lord Jesus Christ. Help me to diligently study the Old Testament and to discern
everything it teaches of Christ. Help me to believe all that The Lord Jesus
Christ spoke in the New Testament.
“But if ye believe not his
writings, how shall ye believe my words?” (Verse 47)
Almighty Lord God, I
confess that I believe all of Moses’ writings in the Old Testament. I confess
that I believe all the words that The Lord Jesus Christ spoke in the New
Testament. I am a believer. Please teach me fully the deep meanings of all Thy
Precious Scriptures. I worship Thee, Heavenly Father. I worship Thee, Lord Jesus.
I worship my Creator God in spirit and in truth.
Almighty Lord Jehovah
God, I pray all these prayers in this chapter for all the human souls now on
this earth. I pray that all people will truly confess the things confessed in
these prayers and that all people will worship Thee, our Creator God, in spirit
and in truth. I pray that all people will trust in Jesus Christ to save
them.
I ask all these things in
the High and Holy Name of The Lord Jesus Christ, and for His Precious Name’s
Sake. Thank Thee, Heavenly Father, for hearing and answering these humble
prayers of mine. Amen!
