THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN

Chapter 13

Almighty Lord Jehovah God in Heaven, right now please send Thy Holy Spirit mightily upon my entire being. Please teach me fully the glorious Truths of Thy Holy Scriptures recorded in this chapter of the Gospel of John. Please set me completely free from the devil, all demons, all evil forces, and selfish lusts. May God’s Truth contained in these Scriptures have free reign in my life to manifest their power in me.

“Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.” (Verse 1)

I am Thine, Lord Jesus. I worship Thee, as the One True Living God Who is Love. I praise Thy Name that Thy Love for me never ends. Please cause me to faithfully love Thee always.

“And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Ju`das Is-cari-ot, Simon’s son, to betray him;” (Verse 2)

Almighty Jehovah God, please guard me against all the devil’s attacks against me and against his attempts to influence me in any way at all. Protect me from ever betraying Thee.

“Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;” (Verse 3)

Heavenly Father, I confess that Thou hast given all things into the hands of Thy Son, Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, I confess that my life is in Thy Hands. I trust in Thee to save me forever. I confess that Thou didst come from God the Father and didst go again unto Him. I desire to go to Heaven to be with Thee always, Sweet Lord Jesus.

“He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.” (Verse 4)

Lord Jesus, please create within me a servant’s heart that will fully serve both Thee and all mankind. Thank Thee for Thy Perfect Example of Thee being a Servant. Enable me to perfectly study Thy Example written in the Holy Bible.

“After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.” (Verse 5)

Lord Jesus, I worship Thee as the Divine Servant. Please teach me the deep spiritual meaning of Thee washing Thy disciples’ feet. I desire to be Thy disciple and to have Thee wash my feet.

“Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?” (Verse 6)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou doest all things well. Save me from ever questioning Thy Actions and Deeds. Help me to totally submit myself unto Thee for Thee to always do unto me as Thou desirest to do.

“Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.” (Verse 7)

Lord Jesus, please create within my heart unshakable faith in Thee, tho at times I do not know or do not understand what Thou doest. Cause me to rest confident in the Truth that Thou wilt always reveal such to me in Thy Perfect Timing. Give me perfect patience to always wait upon Thee patiently and confidently. Please always keep my spirit keenly alert to perceive and to receive all Thou doest teach me.

“Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.”(Verse 8)

Almighty Lord Jehovah God, please have great mercy upon me to save me from the terribly presumptive sin of contradicting Thee. Please keep me in my proper lowly place before my Creator God. Cause me to fully and most willingly submit to Thy Every Plan for my life. Lord Jesus, please wash me and make me wholly clean. I desire to have the greatest part possible with Thee. Please lead me into that wonderful relationship with Thee, Lord Jesus.

“Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.” (Verse 9)

Lord God, please teach me all I should learn from the Biblical record of Simon Peter. Cause me to think deeply on how Peter is ever so hasty of spirit to speak and act. Show me how presumptuous and fickle Peter was in the flesh. Teach me how I am just like him. And save me from such serious faults and sins.

“Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.” (Verse 10)

Lord Jesus, please wash me thoroughly in Thy Shed Blood and make me whiter than snow. Please sanctify and cleanse me with the washing of water by the word. Please teach me the full meaning of these Wonderful Words of Thine in this verse. I desire to be perfectly clean. Please cleanse me perfectly, Lord Jesus.

“For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.” (Verse 11)

Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou art Almighty Jehovah God. I worship Thee as such. I confess that Thou art All Knowing, and thus doeth know everything about me. Please save me from the awful sin of betraying Thee. Please wash me thoroughly and make me wholly clean.

“So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?” (Verse 12)

Heavenly Father, please cause Thy Holy Spirit to fully teach me of all the things Thou doest do unto me. Save me from all spiritual ignorance, I plead.

“Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.” (Verse 13)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou art my Master. I worship Thee as Master of all things. I confess that Thou art my Lord. I worship Thee as Lord of all things. I confess that Thou art Almighty Creator God. I fervently worship Thee as such.

“If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.” (Verse 14)

Lord Jesus Christ, I proclaim that Thou art my Lord and Master. I praise Thy Name for having washed my feet. Please teach me to wash the feet of others. Help me to obey Thy command to wash one another’s feet.

“For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” (Verse 15)

Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou art my Perfect Example. I worship Thee as such. Please teach me to perfectly follow Thy Example and to do as Thou hast done to me.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.” (Verse 16)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou art my Lord and Master. I confess that I am Thy servant. I confess that Thou art Almighty God. I confess that I am a lowly human soul. As Thy lowly servant, I await Thy every command. Please send me forth in accordance to Thy Will.

“If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” (Verse 17)

Heavenly Father, please cause me to know everything I should know concerning my Creator God. Please lead me to do all things Thou hast ordained that I do. I want to know that most rich and excellent joy that comes from obeying Thee, my God, and doing Thy Perfect Divine Will for my life on earth.

“I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, HE THAT EATETH BREAD WITH ME HATH LIFTED UP HIS HEEL AGAINST ME.” (Verse 18)

Lord Jesus Christ, I praise Thee for choosing me. I am Thine, O Lord. Please save me from ever lifting up my heel against Thee or opposing Thee in any way at all. Thou art my All, Lord Jesus. With all my heart, I stand with Thee, Christ Jesus. I am on The Lord’s side!

“Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.” (Verse 19)

Precious Lord Jesus, please tell me beforehand of all things I should know about that are to come to pass in the future. Please fully warn me and prepare me for all that awaits me in the future. Please grant unto me unshakable faith to always believe Thou art The Christ of God.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” (Verse 20)

Lord Jesus, I proclaim that I desire to receive each of Thy servants and each of Thy messengers that Thou doest send to me. Please cause me to receive them. Please give me a discerning spirit to always recognize Thy messengers and Thy servants. I confess that I receive Thee, Lord Jesus Christ. I confess that I receive God the Father Who hath sent Thee.

“When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.” (Verse 21)

Almighty Lord God, please prevent me from ever betraying my Precious Lord Jesus Christ.

“Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.” (Verse 22)

Lord Jesus, please always make me fully aware of my standing with Thee. Anytime I have sin standing between Thee and me, please make me aware of it. I pray that God’s Holy Spirit will constantly show unto me the true condition of my heart.

“Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.” (Verse 23)

Sweet Jesus, thank Thee for loving me. Help me to always love Thee first and foremost with all my heart. Cause me to ever be as close as possible to Thee, leaning on Thy Precious Bosom. I desire to be Thy disciple whom Thou lovest.

“Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake.” (Verse 24)

Lord Jesus, cause me to see Peter’s curious nature here, always wanting to know. Save me from an overly curious nature that is not Thy Will. Save me from being hesitant to directly ask Thee about any question that is on my heart.

“He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?” (Verse 25)

Lord Jesus, during my life on earth, I desire the closest fellowship and closest communion I can possibly have with Thee. Please grant this desire of mine. Draw me nearer, ever so near to Thee, Precious Lord Jesus. I desire to ever lie on Thy breast.

“Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Is-car-i-ot, the son of Simon.” (Verse 26)

“And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.” (Verse 27)

Almighty Lord God, by Thy Unlimited Power, please guard and shield me from all of the devil’s evil schemes and attacks against me. I desire to be totally controlled by my Creator God. Please set me fully free from Satan’s control. Please block the devil’s access to my soul.

“Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him.” (Verse 28)

Lord Jesus, please make me knowledgeable of all things Thou wouldst have me to know. Please grant unto me full knowledge of the intent of all the words Thou doest speak unto me.

“For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.” (Verse 29)

Lord Jesus, teach me fully the significance of the Truth that the Bible has no record of Thee having anything at all to do with the bag of money that Judas had. Remind us of the record of Thee having Peter go catch a fish with money in its mouth and then pay due taxes with that money from the fish. Please reveal to me the significance of Thee keeping distant from mammon (money) while here on earth. There is no Biblical record of Thee ever touching money at all. Teach me the full significance of that important Truth.

“He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.” (Verse 30)

Almighty Lord God, shine Thy Marvelous Light into my heart and overcome this world’s dark nighttime that I live in on this earth. Save me from all the dark evil powers that prefer to do their evil deeds in the darkness of night.

“Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.” (Verse 31)

Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that Thou art the Son of man. I worship Thee as such. I confess that Thou art glorified. I confess that God the Father is glorified in Thee. I earnestly desire that Almighty God my Creator be glorified in me also. Please grant this desire of mine.

“If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.” (Verse 32)

Heavenly Father, I confess that Thou hast glorified Thyself in Thine Only Begotten Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. I confess that Thou hast glorified Thy Son, Jesus Christ. Please perfect my life and thus glorify Thyself in me and also glorify me.

“Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.” (Verse 33)

Lord Jesus, please teach me to properly regard myself as a little child before Thee and before other people also. Keep me humble. Keep me in the lowly estate Thou hast ordained for me while I am on this earth. Please be with me always. Please enable me to constantly seek Thee with all my heart. When my life on earth is ended, please take me to God’s Heaven, there to be with Thee always.

“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” (Verse 34)

Lord Jesus, please enable me to know the fullness of Thy Love for me. Please enable me to obey this commandment of Thine, to love other people as Thou doest love me.

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (Verse 35)

Lord Jesus Christ, I am most desirous to truly be Thy disciple. Please grant this desire of mine. Please create within me perfect love toward all other fellow Christians and toward all other human souls around me.

“Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.” (Verse 36)

Lord Jesus, I thank Thee that Thou art always with me, leading me in accordance to Thy Perfect Timing. Please teach me proper patience to wait on Thee when that is Thy Will for me. Please always give me perfect understanding of Thy Divine Guidance to me.

“Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.” (Verse 37)

Heavenly Father, please send Thy Holy Spirit now to fully teach me everything Thou hast ordained that I learn from Peter’s speech here. Save me from ever questioning Thee against Thy Will. Save me from the awfully sinful tendency of my heart to want to do my will instead of Thy Divine Will. Save me from striving to set my own self up as a god over Thee, Almighty God. Save me from being ignorant of my own deceitful heart and thus being deceived by it, like Peter was deceived by his own heart, thinking he was brave when he was not. Save me from the sin of being presumptuous. Please make me fully aware of all my weaknesses. Save me from being deceived by thinking I am strong when in reality I am weak. Save me from relying on my own power. Cause me to always rely on Almighty God.

“Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.” (Verse 38)

Lord Jesus Christ, I worship Thee as The All-Knowing God. By Thy Holy Spirit, please reveal unto me just how wicked and deceitful my heart is. Teach me fully of the actual condition of my heart and thus save me from being deceived by it. Please enable me to always believe God’s Words instead of believing my deceitful heart.

Heavenly Father, I pray all these prayers for all the human souls now on this earth. Please have mercy on us all and hear and answer all these prayers in accordance to Thy Divine Will and for my Lord Jesus Christ’s Precious Name’s Sake. I love Thee, my Heavenly Father. Amen.
