THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN

Chapter 21

“After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Ti-beri-as; and on this wise shewed he himself.” (Verse 1)

Lord Jesus, please show Thyself unto me. Please create within me the true heart of a disciple of Thine. I desire to know Thee to the fullest extent possible and to follow Thee whithersoever Thou goest.

“There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didy-mus, and Na-thana-el of Cana in Gali-lee, and the sons of Zebe-dee, and two other of his disciples.” (Verse 2)

My precious Lord Jesus, I desire to be listed as a disciple of Thine. Please perfectly teach me discipleship. Teach me to ever follow my Creator God.

“Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.” (Verse 3)

Lord Jesus, I desire to be a fisher of men. Please enable me to catch many lost human souls out of life’s sea of sin and destruction. Please bless my efforts so that I am not barren as a fisher of men.

“But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.” (Verse 4)

My Lord Jesus, I want to see Thee. I want to recognize Thee each time Thou doest reveal Thyself unto me. I desire to know Thee fully. Save me from being ignorant of Thee.

“Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.” (Verse 5)

Lord Jesus, I thank Thee for making me into a child of Thine. Thank Thee for calling me Thy child. I Thank Thee for daily feeding me. Please give me this day my daily bread. Help me to remember to ask Thee each morning for my daily bread. Almighty Jehovah God, I confess that the supply to all my needs doeth come from Thee. Help me to ever remember to first ask of Thee when I am in need. And help me to never forget to thank Thee for graciously supplying all my needs according to Thy Riches in Glory.

“And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.” (Verse 6)

Guide me ever so clearly, Lord Jesus, as to where to fish for the souls of men. Abba Father, please fill me with Thy Holy Ghost Power to enable me to catch multitudes of perishing souls for Christ’s Kingdom.

“Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.” (Verse 7)

Heavenly Father, please cause me to rejoice each time I hear of my Lord Jesus. Make me ever desirous to go unto Thee. Please teach me to always clothe myself properly.

“And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.” (Verse 8)

Lord Jesus, thank Thee for the great bounty Thou doest give. Teach me to cast out Thy Net of Salvation broadly out into life’s sea of perishing mankind and then to drag in a net full of precious human souls for Thee, I pray.

“As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.” (Verse 9)

Lord Jesus, thank Thee for daily feeding me and for fellowshipping daily with me. I confess that Thou art the Bread of Life. I confess that Thou art my Life, my All. Please feed me with Spiritual Food from Heaven.

“Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. (Verse 10)

Lord God in Heaven, all that I have doeth come from Thee. Guide me clearly as to how to always give my all back unto Thee. I confess that I am Thine, Lord Jesus. I confess that all I have is Thine.

“Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.” (Verse 11)

Almighty God in Heaven, I thank Thee for daily abundantly providing for me. Cause me to ever be mindful that every good thing comes from Thee on High. Cause me to seek my every need from Thee. Cause me to constantly thank Thee for graciously providing for me. Please teach me the significance of the number 153 in this verse.

“Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.” (Verse 12)

Thank Thee, My Precious Lord Jesus, for this most gracious invitation unto all mankind to come and dine with Thee. Please cause me daily to fully accept this invitation and to respond to it by constantly dining and fellowshipping with Thee, My Lord. I pray that all other souls now on this earth will also come and dine with Thee. By The Power of The Holy Ghost, draw multitudes of human souls unto Thee, Lord Jesus.

“Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.” (Verse 13)

Lord Jesus, Thou art the Bread of Life. I receive Thee as such. Thou art my God Who doest daily give me natural bread and meat to sustain my physical body that Thou didst create. I thank Thee for both this Spiritual and physical provision from Thee.

“This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.” (Verse 14)

Heavenly Father, I confess that Thou didst raise the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. Lord Jesus, please show Thyself unto me again today. I desire to ever behold Thy Great Glory!

“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. (Verse 15)

My Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, please create within me a burning desire to love Thee more than any one else and more than any thing else. I confess that I love Thee. Please cause me to truly make Thee my first and foremost love. Please teach me to feed Thy lambs.

“He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, feed my sheep. (Verse 16)

Lord Jesus, prevent me from ever growing weary of confessing unto Thee and confessing unto all mankind that I love Thee. Help me to daily, boldly and proudly; proclaim my love for Thee to the whole world. Please teach me to feed Thy sheep.

“He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.” (Verse 17)

My Precious Lord Jesus, please prevent me from ever growing weary of hearing Thy Glorious Voice. Prevent me from ever growing weary of confessing that I love Thee. I confess that Thou art Almighty God Who doeth know everything. No matter what I confess with my mouth, Thou doest completely know my heart. Please cause me to truly love Thee with all my heart. I beg of Thee to teach me to feed Thy sheep.

“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee wither thou wouldest not.” (Verse 18)

Lord Jesus, I worship Thee as the only True, Living, and Everlasting God. I praise Thy Great Name that Thou doest fully know my beginning and my end. When I grow old and feeble, when I can no longer walk about, when I can no longer gird myself, I praise Thee that Thou wilt faithfully take care of me. Underneath my being art Thy Everlasting Arms. Praise be to God for Thy Perfect Care and Keeping.

“This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And, when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.” (Verse 19)

Heavenly Father, please enable me to glorify Thee to the fullest in my life on earth. Please cause me to glorify Thee to the fullest in death. Lord Jesus, please cause me to hear Thy Precious Voice commanding me to follow Thee. Cause me to follow whithersoever Thou doest lead me.

“Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?” (Verse 20)

Lord Jesus, please ever love me dearly. Please allow me to always lean on Thy Breast. Please prevent me from ever betraying Thee.

“Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?” (Verse 21)

Lord Jesus, what shall I do? Please teach me clearly what to do. Then help me to fully obey by doing all that Thou doest teach and command me to do. Show me the importance of being concerned about what I do relating to God, not what others do relating to God.

“Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.” (Verse 22)

Lord Jesus, I confess that it is most important for me to be concerned about wholly following Thee myself. That is to be a primary concern of mine. What other souls do regarding Thee is not a primary concern of mine. Please help me to keep my spiritual priorities in perfect order. Cause me to daily purpose in my heart to follow Thee perfectly.

“Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?” (Verse 23)

Almighty Lord God, save me from tale bearing. Save me from gossiping. Save me from passing on to other souls truth that I have heard but have carelessly distorted it when I speak it. Please keep my speech upright and correct in every way.

“This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.” (Verse 24)

Lord Jesus, I confess that Thou didst ordain for Thy disciple John to write this book, The Gospel of John. I confess that John’s testimony is true and that all the words in the Gospel of John are God’s Eternal Truth. Please guide me to testify of all these things in accordance to Thy Divine Will for me to do so.

“And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. A-men.” (Verse 25)

Lord Jesus, please teach me of all Thy Wonderful Works. Then guide me to proclaim Thy Greatness to all the souls I possibly can. I thank Thee, Almighty Lord Jehovah God, for the many wonderful Truths in this Gospel of John. This Gospel teaches me much of the Glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, Thou art The Great I AM. I worship Thee as such. Please help me to diligently study the Gospel of John. Please impart unto me perfect wisdom and knowledge of the deep Spiritual meanings of all these Scriptures. Please enable me to properly and perfectly apply all the Spiritual Power in these Living Words to my life here on earth. Also please empower me with Holy Ghost Power, Wisdom, and courage to proclaim Eternal Life in Christ to all the souls I possibly can. I pray all these things to Thee, God the Father, in the Name of Thy Son the Lord Jesus Christ, and humbly beg Thee to hear and answer me in accordance to Thy Divine Will, for Jesus Christ’s Precious Name’s Sake. Amen.
